New 10-minute dementia screening tool for GPs

A group of Australians have developed a simple bedside screening test to help doctors determine whether a dementia patient has Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or behavioural-variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD).

The brainchild of scientists from Neuroscience Research Australia, the tool is able to assess executive function in around 10 minutes by combining the three abbreviated measures of verbal fluency, inhibitory control and working memory.
