New deadline set for Redcliffe super clinic

A SECOND deadline looms this week for the Redcliffe GP super clinic operator to solve the project’s funding crisis before the builders, who claim to be owed $1.5 million, consider taking legal action.

A two-week extension was agreed at an emergency meeting between the operator Redcliffe Hospital Foundation (RHF), the Queensland government, the building contractor and department of health representative and former AGPN CEO David Butt.

Building on the beleaguered Queensland project was shut down weeks ago amid claims RHF had failed to pay its construction fees and as Queensland Health Minister Geoff Wilson, concerned about RHF’s financial management, refused to authorise a government loan that would keep the project afloat.

RHF and the builder, Constructions Group, did not return MO’s calls last week but a spokesperson for Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon said the emergency meeting, which took place on the original 30 September
