New drug blocks cocaine immune response

Australian and US researchers claim to have developed a drug that blocks a cocaine high by preventing an immune response, and they believe their findings could be the basis for a variety of addiction treatments.

The researchers have reported that the drug (+)-naloxone (pronounced:Plus nal-OX-own) works by preventing cocaine from interacting with the immune receptor known as Toll-Like receptor 4 (TLR4).
