New PBS listings: what GPs should know

From Sunday, a first-in-class heart failure drug will be listed on the PBS, along with new medications for diabetes and high cholesterol. 

The selective sinus node inhibitor ivabradine (Coralan) is the first new heart failure drug to be PBS listed since the non-selective beta blockers a decade ago, according to Sydney specialist Dr Andrew Sindone.

"In the heart failure community, we're pretty excited about it," he said.
