New Zealand imposes outright ban on vaginal mesh

Vaginal mesh implants have been banned outright in New Zealand, making it the first country to prevent doctors from using it to treat both urinary stress incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

In Australia and the UK the product is deemed unsafe for pelvic organ prolapse only.
While the New Zealand decision has been applauded by campaigners, some doctors have expressed concern at the far-reaching nature of the ban.
