No slowing down Down Under
NOT long after Paul McPhun turned up in Sydney, he got his first taste of Australian stoicism on home soil. The Brit, having just taken on the role of executive director of Medécins Sans Frontières Australia, watched as much of Queensland was obliterated by flood. Just weeks later, he watched as an earthquake tore apart Christchurch, and more recently the destruction and devastation wreaked upon Japan by the tsunami.
“The actions of individuals are quite astonishing,” Mr McPhun told MO soon after the Christchurch quake.
