Now it’s time to get back to work

Pharmacy industry bodies are eager to get back to work on healthcare reforms now that the Turnbull government’s revamped health ministry has been announced.

They welcomed the government’s reappointment of Sussan Ley (pictured) as Federal Health Minister and the elevation of Dr David Gillespie to Assistant Minister for Rural Health.

PSA national president Joe Demarte says: “After an extended election campaign, where health played a lead role, Australia’s pharmacists welcome stable government in a challenging environment to ensure the future viability of the pharmacy sector and wider healthcare system.

“We stand ready to work with the government and Health Minister to implement key health reforms outlined in PSA’s Election Manifesto 2016, which highlighted the important role pharmacists’ can play in improving the sustainability and effectiveness of the healthcare system.
