NSW GP banned from drinking

Dr David John Ellis first came to the attention of the board in 2007 and appeared before an Impaired Registrants Inquiry in March of that year where his alcohol consumption became the subject of conditions placed on his registration.

He was ordered to limit his consumption to social drinking or no more than 2–3 standard drinks in a day and at least two alcohol-free days a week, then was ordered the following year to abstain from alcohol altogether.

Dr Ellis later admitted during NSW Medical Board reviews to breaching that condition
