NSW pharmacies given permission to dispense full scripts without paperwork

There must be an immediate need and a previous prescription

The NSW Chief Health Officer is allowing pharmacists in bushfire regions to dispense the maximum quantity of S4 PBS medications without a prescription if there is an immediate need and they have been previously prescribed.

The temporary authority will be in place until the end of March.

Pharmacists must record:

  • The patient’s name, address and the name of the dispensing pharmacist.
  • Name, strength and quantity of the medicine, plus the date of supply.
  • The name of the address of the last doctor who prescribed the medicine
