Nurofen products pulled for misleading pain claims

Pain-specific brands of ibuprofen such as Nurofen Back Pain are to be taken off the shelves after a court found they all contained the same ingredient and made misleading claims for pain relief.

In a case brought by the ACCC, the Federal Court ruled on Monday that the marketing of four Nurofen specific pain products is misleading because claims that they are formulated to treat a specific type of pain are not accurate as they actually all contain the same ibuprofen ingredient.

The court accepted the ACCC case that Reckitt Benckiser made misleading representations for: Nurofen Back
