Nurse-led clinic plagued by problems: report

A flagship nurse practitioner clinic in the ACT is prioritising "affluent and able" patients, increasing pressure on EDs, and is plagued by an inefficient computer system, according to a highly critical report.

The clinic — situated just 100 metres from Canberra Hospital — is Australia's first public walk-in unit run by nurses which was set up in 2010 in response to a chronic shortage of GPs and strained EDs.
