Nurse practitioner clinic fails

The nation's first stand-alone private nurse-practitioner clinic has been turned into a GP surgery, with the owners blaming inadequate Medicare rebates for its failure.

Stephen Dahl, the businessman behind the Brisbane-based SmartClinic, announced that he had replace all the nurse practitioners with three GPs, suggesting the GP model is the only one that is financially sustainable.

The clinic’s transformation signals another failure of one of the Federal Government
