Nurse rego ban for relationship with mental health patient

Jane Waddell, a former nurse member of the NSW Nursing and Midwifery Tribunal, was found guilty of professional misconduct in December after admitting to the affair with a man being treated in Mosman Private Hospital with alcoholism and depression sometime in late 2009 or early 2010.

The tribunal said Ms Waddell, a former mayor of Hunters Hill in Sydney, admitted to inappropriately exchanging telephone numbers with the patient and calling and sending him text messages repeatedly in December 2009 whilst he was an inpatient. She also admitted to calling and texting the man hundreds of times following his discharge in early 2010.

It said she denied kissing him when he was on overnight leave but that she admitted visiting him at his house shortly after he was discharged, as well as inviting him to the movies and to have coffee.
