Office workers stand up to diabetes

Alternating between periods of standing and sitting while working may be the way to prevent diabetes in sedentary office workers, Australian research has shown.

Overweight middle-aged people at risk of diabetes showed modest beneficial effects on their postprandial glucose responses when they spent regular 30 minute periods of working standing up, researchers from the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne have found.
