A return to old-fashioned bleach baths for children with atopic dermatitis is the answer to a worrying rise in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections, a leading dermatologist says.

Dr Saxon Smith, a consultant dermatologist at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital, says bleach baths will help counter the more than 20-fold increase in MRSA in children with atopic dermatitis in the past 15 years, as reported by SA dermatologists in a new study.
