Old tattoo causes lymphoma-like symptoms

A large 15-year old tattoo has been blamed for lymphoma-like symptoms in an otherwise healthy 30-year-old Sydney woman.


Doctors from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital diagnosed granulomatous lymphadenopathy caused by black tattoo pigment.

They say the case illustrates the potential of delayed reactions from seemingly innocuous tattoos.

Acute complications such as pain, infection, and hypersensitivity are well-known.

Writing in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the authors report that the woman presented with a two-week history of bilateral axillary
