Olive oil’s role in preventing Alzheimer’s

Numerous studies suggest that the Mediterranean diet may be protective against cognitive problems and dementia, but the latest evidence shows it’s actually the olive oil that does the trick not the diet per se.

US researchers have found that consuming extra-virgin olive oil protects memory and learning ability, and reduces the formation of amyloid-beta plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain — classic markers of Alzheimer's disease.

While this discovery pertains only to mice at this stage, they are excited by the results.
