Oncogenic HPV types at record low levels

Young Australian women now have the lowest levels of oncogenic HPV in the world following the National HPV Vaccination Program, a study from Victoria suggests.

The prevalence of vaccine-targeted high-risk HPV types among women aged 18-25 has fallen to 1.6% from levels of about 18% before the vaccination program started in 2007, according to findings from a study by the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute in Melbourne.

The results are a positive development for the
