Oral contraceptives may reduce libido: study

Taking an oral contraceptive pill may diminish women’s libido, a Swedish study suggests.

The prospective randomised controlled trial of 340 women aged 18-35 compared the sexual function of women taking a pill containing 150μg levonorgestrel and 30μg ethinylestradiol with others on placebo.

The trial found that pill users experienced a significant reduction in the sexual function measures of desire, arousal and pleasure compared with placebo.
