Organ donor families need more support

Leanne Campbell was left traumatised when hospital staff asked about donating her brain-dead son's organs. But she would still say yes if asked again.

Ms Campbell's 23-year-old son Brett was injured in a freak quad bike accident in 2009.

He was technically brain dead when Victorian doctors told her there was little that could be done for him.

She consented to organ donation but describes the process as shocking.

"The questions we were asked were quite intrusive: ‘Are you prepared to talk about your child's sex life? His drug-taking potential or risk-taking behaviour?'" she said.
