Osteoporosis in men underdiagnosed

The study of 5880 men aged 65 and older found that while 130 men were identified as having osteoporosis using World Health Organization criteria, an additional 422 men were identified using the US National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) criteria. Use of the FRAX criteria, a prediction tool combining clinical risk factors with or without bone mineral density scores, meant that a further 936 men were potentially eligible for drug treatment.
