Pharmacists have returned fire over the provocative claims made by GP Dr Evan Ackermann that the proposed pharmacy minor ailment scheme is just a push to increase profits.

Dr Ackermann, chair of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners National Standing Committee – Quality Care, said unless “integrity within the pharmacy industry was improved” the scheme would be no more than a mechanism to increase drug use.
