Overhaul for foreign doctors

Instead, IMGs with comparable overseas training would bypass having to get two AMC certificates and jump straight to a provisional registration before undertaking a year’s supervised workplace assessment, then applying for general registration.

The overseas-trained doctors would no longer have to wait for their supervising authority — for GPs the RACGP or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) — to write a letter of recommendation to the AMC then for the AMC to issue a certificate in order to be registered.
