Pack sizes boost paracetamol poisoning

Super-sized paracetamol packs sold in discount pharmacies are responsible for the majority of severe overdoses, a pharmacologist claims.

Professor Nicholas Buckley, the co-author of new guidelines for the management of paracetamol poisoning, said the current “lack of controls on pharmacy sales is the weakest link in Australian regulation in terms of preventing poisoning”.
