Pap smears make way for HPV test
Two-yearly Pap smears will soon be redundant if recommendations from an influential Federal Government panel come into force.
Significant changes to the current cervical screening program have been recommended by the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) including phasing out Pap smears.
The changes, which have been two years in the making, have been welcomed by Cancer Australia, the Cancer Council and the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation.
