A parent of an intellectually disabled woman has made an impassioned plea to reject growing calls for a complete ban on forced sterilisations.

A Federal senate inquiry is currently examining the issue, amid allegations that intellectually disabled people are being subjected to illegal sterilisations — despite laws requiring judicial approval.
