The obese patient at the centre of the $360k compensation claim against a GP who failed to refer him to a weight loss clinic or for bariatric surgery has been told he has only three months to live.

Luis Almario, 63, was born in Columbia where he trained and worked as a journalist – regarding himself as a left wing revolutionary - until his emigration to Australia in 1984.
