Patients not taking FOBT results seriously

Two out of three people still reject bowel cancer screening invitations and many are not seeing a GP for follow-up of positive results, new figures show.

Although participation rates in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program increased from 33.4% in 2012 to 36% in 2014, more than 30% of patients with a positive FOBT did not see a GP for follow-up.

Of the patients who underwent colonoscopy, one in 25
