Pharmacist supply of ECPs 'variable'

Pharmacist supply of the emergency contraceptive pill (ECP) to Australian women is “variable” and “not always in line with the recommendations of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA)”, a new study has revealed.

The study, published in the Australian Journal of Primary Health, found that pharmacists often deviated from the recommended advice in the PSA’s guidelines, and further awareness was needed in order to improve access for women to the ECP.
