Pharmacists blame doctors for antibiotic misuse

A power imbalance between doctors and hospital pharmacists may be a key reason why antibiotics are chronically misused in Australian hospitals, new research suggests.

Most pharmacists know judicious use is key to heading off the superbug emergence, but they struggle to influence change in hospital settings, according to the lead researcher, Dr Alex Broom, a sociology professor at UNSW.
