Pharmacists deny profiteering from the PBS

The Pharmacy Guild has denied accusations of “pursuing profits at the expense of patients” by encouraging pharmacists to "exploit a PBS loophole" to boost profits.

According to a front page splash in the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday, the Guild is advising pharmacists to make deals with suppliers immediately after several popular medicines lose their patent protection next month, to lock in discounts from the wholesalers while still receving government reimbursement at artificially high rates.
