Pharmacists’ pathology deal collapses under GP pressure

The controversial deal allowing pharmacists to order ‘bundles’ of pathology tests for customers has collapsed under strong condemnation from GPs.

As exclusively reported by Australian Doctor last week, the arrangement between pharmacy chain Amcal and pathology giant Sonic allowed pharmacists to charge up to $220 for combinations of tests including kidney, liver, HbA1c, cholesterol and FBC.
