Pharmacy data on-selling under attack

According to News Corp reports “some chemists are selling their patients prescription information to a global health information company which sells it on to pharmaceutical companies trying to boost their sales”.

In the report, Andrew Sutton, IMS Health’s Australia/New Zealand general manager confirmed his company is collecting de-identified patient prescription data.

Mr Sutton told News Corp the information is “all fully encrypted and the anonymous information is not linked to physicians or patients.”
