Pharmacy warfarin bid wins GP support

Pharmacists have launched a bid for the right to monitor and adjust warfarin therapy in Australia — a move backed in principle by the RACGP.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia’s latest budget submission asks for $50.4 million of federal cash over two years to establish a national model of pharmacy-led anticoagulation management.
Under the proposals, pharmacists would offer anticoagulation services to three patient groups: those newly discharged from hospital, those requiring
