Popular OTC items to be removed from PBS

Over the counter medications, including low dose aspirin and sustained release paracetamol, are to be delisted from the PBS in January 2016, in what the Federal Government says is a $500 million cost-cutting measure.

Federal Health Minister Sussan Ley said removing the PBS subsidy from the 17 medications would benefit concessional patients who may pay more for them on prescription than over the counter.
