PPI rescheduled to pharmacy-only

Patients will soon be able to buy low-dose esomeprazole (Nexium) directly from pharmacies without a doctor's script.

The change follows a decision by a TGA advisory committee, which ruled that the PPI had an appropriate safety profile to become a Schedule 3 (pharmacist-only) medication.
