Practice nurses aren't low paid, GPs say

Hundreds of general practices are fighting a bid by the nurses’ union to collectively bargain on behalf of practice nurses, as new figures show practice nurses are paid 19% higher than award rates on average.

Dozens of practices, ranging from small rural clinics to the large corporates Primary Health Care, IPN and Healthscope have written to Fair Work Australia opposing the union’s proposal, which could see practice nurses’ pay rise by more than 5% per year
