Pregnancy-related cancers on rise

Pregnancy-related cancers have almost doubled since the early 1990s, a NSW study finds, and researchers are at a loss to explain why.

The research, published Wednesday in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, found the incidence of cancer jumped from 112 per 100,000 pregnancies in 1994 to 192 per 100,000 pregnancies in 2008.

The study, which included data on 1.3 million pregnancies in more than 780,000 women, looked
