Prenatal influenza vax needs a push

GPs’ lack of knowledge around the safety of the influenza vaccine during pregnancy may be inadvertently driving a lack of uptake in pregnant women, researchers say.  

Writing in BMC Family Practice Louise Maher and colleagues from the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the UNSW said prenatal influenza was associated with an increased risk of respiratory and cardiopulmonary hospitalisation as well as preterm delivery and fetal distress.
