Preterm births linked to vaginal microbiome

The causes of preterm birth are still not properly understood but it seems increasingly likely that vaginal dysbiosis - disruptions in the vaginal microbiota - may play a role.
The latest research by a team from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine links certain species of microbiota to the problem. Others appear to have a protective mechanism.
An analysis of the vaginal swabs of 1500 pregnant women show that higher
