Price of Down test set to drop
The price of non-invasive Down syndrome testing is set to tumble in Australia, as pathology companies move to bring the technology onshore for the first time.
Victorian Clinical Genetics Services (VCGS) has announced plans to perform its own new-generation prenatal testing — paving the way for its widespread uptake.
Currently the tests, which detect fetal DNA in the maternal blood, are performed only by labs in the US and Asia.
