Price war hots up

Discount giant Chemist Warehouse is "100 per cent" ready to begin offering the full $1 PBS co-pay discount from the 1 January 2016, one of its key managers says.

However, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia says concessional payments will suffer from the price cut, taking 11 extra scripts a year to hit the co-pay safety net.

Speaking on Melbourne radio on Friday, Damien Gance, CWH group commercial manager said the group will be ready to offer the discount on prescription items when the controversial measure, part of the government’s PBS reform package, comes into effect.
