Private insurers can fund chronic care

The AMA wants private health insurers to fund GPs' work in co-ordinating care for chronic disease patients.

The call, outlined in the AMA's Federal budget submission, comes amid a major expansion in so-called "wellness and prevention" programs that are arranged and funded by private health insurers aiming to reduce hospital admissions among its members.
