Prominent pharmacist faces mentor and partner in court

NSW Pharmacy Guild president Rick Samimi has won the first round of a nearly nine-month legal battle against his business partner and former mentor Jackie Cole.

The NSW Supreme Court case centres on the long-running business partnership between Mr Samimi, Ms Cole and Adrian Wei-Chun Lee.

The trio originally owned the Royal Randwick Pharmacy in Sydney. They sold this and bought three pharmacies at the Macquarie Shopping Centre in North Ryde.

However, Ms Cole wanted to leave as she has a significant amount of money tied up in the business, the court heard.

After two years of failed negotiations to either sell, incorporate the business or end the partnership, Ms Cole served notice to dissolve the partnership last October.

She launched legal proceedings in December, asking the court to validate her notice or to wind up the partnership on the ground it was “just and equitable”.
