Prostate cancer treatment time halved

Radiation therapy for prostate cancer can safely be compressed from a standard eight weeks of daily treatment down to four, according to new evidence.

The shorter timeframe won’t negatively impact the cure rate or increase side effects, say the study authors.

This means men can undergo 20 treatments rather than the previous 40, making radiation a more appealing proposition for men diagnosed with localised prostate cancer.
