PSA calls for action after patients breach isolation to visit pharmacies
Patients are turning up at pharmacies to have their prescriptions dispensed despite being told by their GPs to self-isolate while they wait for COVID-19 test results, according to the PSA.
These prescriptions are not necessarily related to the viral infection, according to national PSA president Professor Chris Freeman.
In a post shared on social media, he has urged GPs to send scripts directly to pharmacies, as most will deliver:
Have had reports from community pharmacists that patients are presenting with prescriptions from GPs (not for COVID-19 but other issues) after they’ve been tested for COVID-19 and asked to go into isolation.— Chris Freeman FPS (@topherfreeman) March 15, 2020
