Psoriasis increases risk of diabetes

Individuals with psoriasis are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a large study has found.

The risk directly increases with the severity of a person’s psoriasis, and the association could be contributing to thousands of new diabetes cases worldwide each year, resesrchers say.

One extra case of type 2 diabetes is diagnosed for every 1000 psoriasis patients each year, the authors wrote on Tuesday in the Archives of Dermatology
