Psoriasis a warning for kidney disease

Patients with moderate to severe psoriasis are at increased risk of chronic kidney disease and should undergo regular screening, a large study suggests.

The study of more than 140,000 British psoriasis patients found the condition was an independent risk factor for moderate to advanced renal disease, even after adjusting for comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Severe psoriasis was responsible for one extra case of chronic kidney disease a year per 62 patients aged 50-60, and
