Psychiatric care may up suicide risk

The more psychiatric care an adult receives, the more likely they are to commit suicide, new research shows, prompting two Australian psychiatrists to suggest psychiatric care "might, at least in part, cause suicide".

The risk of suicide increased dramatically with rising levels of involvement with psychiatric professionals and institutions, found a study of 2429 suicide cases of adult patients with an average age of 53.
