Push to order genetic tests earlier
GPs can speed up diagnosis for children with intellectual or developmental problems by ordering genetic tests, hearing and speech checks while waiting on a specialist review, an expert says.
Dr Hasantha Gunasekera, a Sydney paediatrician, said the long wait times to see paediatricians in Australia were often compounded by further delays in obtaining these results.
